Conclusion of Part One Judaism

Far from being a complete exposition of Judaism, this first chapter has sought to present the earliest texts from the New Testament in which Judaism is presented in a possibly negative light.
By re-reading these texts in the light of more recent scholarship, it has been possible to place them in context and diminish the negative side they might portray. The result is to show the ongoing validity of the covenant between God and the Jewish people, which will be the main theme of this book.
The chapter opened by presenting four key personages of the Old Testament who have enduring validity for Christians and Jews.
While this presentation may seem to be neither comprehensive nor historically-based, I believe that prayer and meditation on these four figures can help Christians recover the key points of the covenant revealed in the Old Testament and thus play a part in making up for
past neglect.
As the book progresses, we will encounter views of Judaism that are even more negative. It is important to refer back to this first chapter so as to correct that negativity. Praying over the stories of Abraham, Moses, David and Elijah is one way of doing that.
